National Lottery Grants for Heritage – £250,000 to £5million
The Grade II listed Stover Park is becoming more resilient and welcoming for visitors. Many of the park's natural and historic features are being restored, including de-silting Stover Lake, reviving the historic Serpentine Lake and repairing Granite Lodge.
A series of new walking routes are being created to provide alternative options for visitors to explore, including the Serpentine Lake Trail alongside the recently restored lake. These paths will connect to a revamped Discovery Centre, a new community workshop and outdoor learning spaces.
Alongside, the team are also engaging local communities, including delivering tree nursery sessions where 250 children have helped to grow trees from seeds.
Included in the project is the restoration of the Grade II* listed Granite Lodge, also known as the Stover Gatehouse. In 2025, the gateway was saved and removed from Historic England’s Heritage at Risk Register.
On this news, Stuart McLeod, Director of England, London & South at The National Lottery Heritage Fund, said: “This project is a shining example of how Heritage Fund support helps to breathe new life into historic spaces, making them accessible and meaningful for future generations. The transformation of the Gatehouse is a key milestone in the wider restoration of Stover Park and we’re delighted to see it once again standing proud as a gateway to the past thanks to National Lottery players.”
