Today we’re launching One Centenary 100 Stories, showcasing how National Lottery funding is helping people across the UK take part in the Centenary of the First World War

Join us at midday today on Facebook, where we will be live from the Imperial War Museum London’s First World War Galleries, one of more than 2,000 Centenary projects funded by the National Lottery.

#OneCentenary100Stories will run until Armistice Day 2018 (Sunday 11 November). It will highlight 100 stories from National Lottery-funded First World War Centenary projects across our Twitter, Instagram and Facebook channels.

Sharing experiences, discoveries and personal responses

We will share people's experiences, discoveries and personal responses to exploring the diverse stories of the First World War. They range from visitors to large projects like the newly restored HMS Caroline in Belfast through to thousands of community projects exploring the impact of the conflict locally and globally.

The Heritage Lottery Fund has invested almost £100millon of National Lottery money in Centenary projects so far.  The impact of that funding has been widespread and 9.4 million people have taken part in National Lottery funded projects, improving their knowledge and understanding of the First World War.

HLF’s First World War Centenary lead Karen Brookfield, explains the significance of National Lottery funding for the Centenary: “National Lottery funding has been instrumental in helping people participate in the First World War Centenary.

“It has funded the UK’s cornerstone Centenary projects like the Imperial War Museum, HMS Caroline and 14-18NOW, the Centenary’s cultural programme which is reimagining how we commemorate conflict. But its real success has been enabling millions of people right across the UK, from all backgrounds and communities, to explore and share the First World War stories most important to them. One Centenary 100 stories brings those experiences together to create a truly UK picture of the Centenary."
