Between May and July 2011, East Sussex Archaeology and Museums Partnership (ESAMP) recruited a Skills for the Future Training Officer and seven Skills for the Future trainees. They began their traineeships during September and October 2011.

Heritage trainees developed skills in archaeological and historical building methods. They acquired practical heritage building skills through ESAMP projects and training; this involved re-thatching a roundhouse, building a Mesolithic house, coppicing, axe use, tool sharpening, risk assessment, archaeological research methods and experimental archaeology.

The trainees took on a project to re-develop the visitor interpretation at Seven Sisters Country Park with ongoing training in landscape archaeology and heritage management that has included monument restoration work and archaeological surveying.
