Thinking Film uses an innovative approach to film and media to share hidden voices with new and diverse audiences.
Working in partnership with the oldest LGBT+ youth group in the UK GYRO (Gay Youth ‘R’ Out) and participants aged 12-25, this project collected and curated artefacts for display, and engaged with older LGBT+ people. The participants received training and developed the new skills required to make all the curatorial decisions. The exhibition created as part of this project ran throughout the Homotopia festival in November 2016 at TATE Liverpool.
Alongside the physical museum a unique digital archive was created by participants to catalogue artefacts and document Merseyside’s LGBT+ community. This told the personal stories behind the artefacts and increased audience access to heritage.
