This project managed visitors to Northern Ireland's only UNESCO World Heritage Site , the Giant's Causeway, through the provision of a visitor centre, associated site management, and an extensive programme of activities.

Conservation was at the heart of the project and the new visitor centre was designed to integrate into and complement the iconic landscape.

Imaginative interpretation was achieved through the visitor centre, tour guides and portable audio guides provide numerous opportunities to learn about the area’s history, geology and biodiversity. Local people also got involved in the project through outreach activities and an oral history project, which ensured local stories were a key element of the interpretation.

The project also provided jobs and support for local businesses in the nearby town of Bushmills, boosting the local economy. Up to 100 volunteers took on a variety of roles, including welcome hosts, storytellers, wardens and support staff. Local schools and universities also contributed towards educational and environmental activities. New trail paths were developed to provide access and links to other areas of the World Heritage Site, as well as a sustainable transport plan which was implemented to remove traffic congestion.
