Her parents worked for an airline, enabling the family to travel extensively.  This fostered Emily’s love of nature and keen desire to contribute to the conservation of our natural and cultural heritage.

Whilst Emily began her career in international wildlife conservation, increasing pressure on the UK’s wildlife and habitats led her to develop a specialism in UK nature conservation and landscapes.  She has over 25 years’ experience of heritage conservation work including land management, strategic planning, policy development and project management. She has led on the development and delivery of an extensive portfolio of landscape-scale projects and partnerships including several major HLF projects and one of the UK government’s flagship ‘Nature Improvement Area’ projects.  She has served on a number of boards and committees including the Commission for a Sustainable 2012 Olympic Games and regional landfill tax funding boards.

Emily has a Masters Degree in Conservation Biology and has held leadership roles in a range of conservation organisations including London Wildlife Trust, the South Downs National Park Authority, Butterfly Conservation, the Natural History Museum and the Zoological Society of London.  She currently works for the National Trust, looking after the Trust’s properties in Surrey and Sussex and leading a team of experts including building surveyors, curators, conservators, estate managers and planning advisers. The National Trust is the UK’s largest conservation organisation with over 5 million members.

Emily strongly believes in the right of future generations to have a healthy, beautiful natural environment.  She aims to share her enthusiasm, passion and commitment to nature with as many people as possible.  She is a strong supporter of HLF as it offers people many fantastic opportunities
