Until May 2026 he was Chief Executive of Northumberland National Park Authority, a post he held for over 20 years. During this time Tony held various lead policy roles for the UK national parks including for planning, the historic environment, rural affairs and equality, diversity and inclusion.
Prior to that Tony was the founding Chief Executive of the Mourne Heritage Trust in Northern Ireland.
A chartered town planner, Tony has previously worked in heritage management, urban regeneration and rural development roles in the UK and in The Gambia, West Africa. He is an experienced non-executive director and served as Chair of Your Homes Newcastle from January 2020 to June 2023.
He was previously non-executive director of the National Federation of ALMOS, Northumberland Tourism Ltd, Active Northumberland, Kielder Water and Forest Park Development Trust and the Ouseburn Trust, which helps support the regeneration of this historic cultural area of Newcastle.
In 2023 Tony was made a Freeman of Northumberland in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the county.
