The equalities charity Diverse Excellence Cymru led a seven-month project to actively engage Black Minority Ethnic (BME) people from across Cardiff to explore Welsh heritage, history and culture through visits to local museums.

Volunteers were given a unique opportunity to learn about Welsh heritage from local professionals and experts through workshops investigating how their own experience and memories of the BME communities in Cardiff have contributed to the development and history of the city.

Thirty BME individuals also contributed their own stories and experiences of BME heritage in Cardiff through digital videos, websites and story-telling events linked to Black History Month in October 2013.

A film was produced about how and why the project was carried out, and that was shown to the participants and the wider Cardiff community through several events.
