An opportunity to join our Committee for the South West

Why join our Committee?

Being a committee member presents an exciting and challenging opportunity for individuals with a strong commitment to our diverse heritage. A committee member who will be standing down has said:

"Heritage Lottery Fund supports heritage in so many ways, it shapes lives across the UK and acts as a catalyst for creating places and projects for people that give a sense of identity and belonging. It brings people together in so many different ways. This is why I was so keen to get involved, but had no idea how important this work would be. I have met some incredible people, of all ages, whose enthusiasm, energy and appetite for creation, understanding, wisdom, places, knowledge and joy has been overwhelming, it has been a humbling experience. Would I do it again? Absolutely, it has been such an honour!"
Julie Finch, Committee Member for the South West 2012-14)

The work of our Committees

Our committees take decisions on all grant funding requests from £100,000 up to £2 million and provide a crucial local perspective to the HLF Board on larger grants and for targeted initiatives. Members meet people involved in heritage projects, represent HLF at openings and events and act as advocates for HLF in their locality.
