Three major heritage attractions are holding free offers for National Lottery players this week.

Colston Hall in Bristol, Kelmarsh Hall near Northampton and Chatsworth House in Derbyshire are saying thank you for over £6million of HLF support.

1. Colston Hall – free backstage tours

Tomorrow evening (Wednesday 9 May), Colston Hall will be offering people with a valid lottery ticket the chance to go on a free behind-the-scenes tour, uncovering stories from the venue’s 150-year history.

Last week, the Bristol Music Trust announced that it has been awarded a £4.75m National Lottery grant. The funding will enable the Trust to redevelop the Hall’s Grade II-listed Lantern building and share its vibrant history through a new permanent display.

From Jimi Hendrix to Duke Ellington, the Bristol landmark has hosted some of music’s ‘greats’. The Beatles were famously flour-bombed at the Hall in the 1960s. Decades earlier, suffragettes hid in the organ overnight to protest at a speech the following day.

Work on the site’s transformation is scheduled to begin in June, so this is a fantastic opportunity to get a last, and exclusive, look backstage.

To find out more, visit the Colston Hall website.

2. Kelmarsh Hall – free entry to the Spring Fair and Spring Walk

If you bring along your lottery ticket next weekend (12-13 May), you can visit Kelmarsh Hall’s annual Spring Walk and new Spring Fair free of charge.

The manor house has recently opened up its servants’ quarters to the public for the first time, thanks to £1.4m from HLF. The Tunnelling through the Past project conserved the former laundry and stable yard, allowing visitors to discover what life was like ‘below stairs’.

As well as visiting the new ‘below stairs’ experience, visitors can browse a selection of beautiful craft, gift and food stalls, and wander through the picturesque Kelmarsh gardens.

Take a look at the Kelmarsh Hall website for more information.

3. Chatsworth House - 50% off a House & Garden ticket and free parking

On Wednesday 16 May, Chatsworth House is inviting lottery players to claim a half-price ticket to the house and gardens, as well as free parking.

The stunning stately home in Derbyshire, which famously took on the role of Pemberley in the Pride & Prejudice film, received HLF funding for a project to transform its game larder into a centre for visitors to learn about the landscape.

As a thank you, this special offer will give visitors discounted entry to explore over 30 rooms, including the magnificent Painted Hall and Sculpture Gallery, and 105 acres of gardens.

Plan your visit by looking at the Chatsworth House website.
