Participants have learnt how to record oral histories, supplementing research with migration stories of local people from countries including Togo, Senegal and Mali.

A five month exhibition, website and festival have educated and inspired over 2000 people and 200 volunteers.

Over 400 artefacts have been collected so far, filling gaps in local archives and helping British born Africans connect with their families’ heritage.

The project is creating a lasting legacy through encouraging more people to take an active part in exploring and celebrating their own heritage.

The Highlife Centre is a registered charity addressing unemployment, disadvantage and inequality in Coventry.
