Watch the football and the Royal wedding in Lincoln

The newly renovated Boultham Park will broadcast the Royal wedding and FA Cup Final on a giant screen as part of its opening ceremony this Saturday. Bring along your picnic blanket from 10.30am to join in the celebrations. You can enjoy:

  • Live music on the bandstand
  • Food vendors and community stalls
  • Activities including face painting, a scavenger hunt and miniature railway
  • Lincoln City Imps in the Community with a goal and Checkatrade trophy, which Lincoln won at Wembley in April

Not to be missed!

Enjoy a BBQ and music in Houghton Regis

There is a family open day at Houghton Hall Park from 10am to 3pm on Sunday 20 May complete with a BBQ, music and fun activities for all ages. The event celebrates the park’s regeneration including a new visitor centre, a nature play trail and transformed access for people with disabilities.

Follow a trail of shoes in Newcastle

The city’s Walker Park has just unveiled an unusual sculpture trail… of shoes! Created by artist Gilly Rogers, the shoes and boots represent the different users of the park – from teenagers’ trainers to the work boots of gardeners. Well worth a look this weekend.

Join a history trail in Salford

Peel Park, opened in 1846, was one of the first public parks to open in the country "for the enjoyment and recreation of the public... without charge or restriction."

This weekend sees its official opening after a £1.6million refurbishment with fantastic new play areas, planting, and restored historic features. You can also join a special history trail celebrating the symbolic return of Joseph Brotherton, Salford’s first MP and philanthropist, led by Blue Badge Guide Jonathan Schofield, local historian and writer – Sunday 20 May, 12.30 to 1.15pm.

Head to your local park

Fun, healthy and free! Even if there isn’t an event happening at your local park, they are still excellent places to play, explore nature and spend time with your loved ones.
