Looking after nature and helping people to understand its importance has never been more vital.

Since 1994 we have awarded £2billion to 4,700 land, nature and biodiversity projects across the UK. 

Protecting the environment is one of our four Heritage 2033 investment principles.

We are prioritising landscape and nature projects that:

  • support nature’s recovery
  • deliver nature-based solutions to address climate change
  • reconnect people to landscapes and nature

Compton Verney secures Heritage Lottery Fund support

The project aims to preserve, restore and celebrate an outstanding ‘Capability’ Brown park, which includes a rare, Brown-designed and Grade I listed chapel. Development funding of £179,656 has also been awarded to help Compton Verney to progress its plans to apply for a full grant at a later date

Spurn lighthouse to shine again

Spurn is a narrow, three-mile long arc of sand between the Humber Estuary and the North Sea with the Grade II listed lighthouse at its point. A £470,500 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) will enable the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust to repair the building and open it for public access for the
