25 years of funding for UK heritage: our film

The first #NationalLottery draw took place on 19 November 1994. Since then, £8billion from ticket sales has been awarded to more than 44,000 heritage projects, improving the lives of millions of people across the UK.

As the largest dedicated grant funder of the UK’s heritage, our distribution of National Lottery funding has reached every corner of the country.

Over the past 25 years we've helped deliver significant benefits to historic and treasured buildings, wildlife and habitats, parks and the great outdoors, world-class museumsculture and memories and community heritage.

What has been your favourite National Lottery memory in that time? The opening of a fantastic project, volunteering at your local park, learning a new heritage skill, a stunning image you took? Share these on social media and celebrate with us by using #NationalLottery25.
