Arts & Business Cymru’s Heritage Forward project is helping heritage organisations of all sizes access the skills, knowledge and support needed to thrive.

The two-year project will work with organisations to identify weaknesses or challenges and offer bespoke guidance. Its goal is to help Wales’ heritage sector become more confident, sustainable and fit for the future.

Organisations throughout Wales will be able to apply to Arts & Business Cymru for support in creating a tailored action plan, developing core business skills, strengthening governance and working up new strategies for fundraising and income generation.

With our funding, Heritage Forward will:

  • establish a project steering committee
  • recruit a project manager and external evaluator
  • develop a monitoring and evaluation framework
  • create a series of digital learning and development resources
  • host peer-to-peer networking events
  • publish case studies and a bilingual evaluation report that can be shared with the wider heritage sector

Rachel Jones, Arts & Business Cymru’s Chief Executive said: “We are thrilled to have received this support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, heritage organisations across the nation will have access to the skills, knowledge and support they need to thrive in challenging times. We want to empower them to protect, share and sustain the heritage that matters to people and communities in Wales.”
