National Lottery Heritage Grants £10,000 to £250,000

Greenhill Gardens 

Applicant: The Hill Church Swansea 

Local Authority: Swansea

Project description: This (initially) yearlong project is looking to re-develop Hill Street (Grade II listed) Church’s graveyard to create an accessible wellbeing space that also looks to highlight and tell the story of those buried there.  

Decision: Award Grant Increase of £28,660 to make a total grant of £239,863

Clywedog Valley Heritage Partnership 

Applicant: Groundwork North Wales 

Local Authority: Wrexham 

Project description: This is the development phase of this project that aims to create a unified heritage trail along the Clywedog Valley Trail in Wrexham. The project, delivered in partnership, aims to bring together various organisations to restore a number of heritage assets in the Clywedog Valley. These include examples of built and natural heritage: Minera Quarry, Minera Lead Mines and Country Park, Nant Mill, Plas Power Woods, Bersham Ironworks, King’s Mill, and the River Clywedog.  

Decision: Award Grant Increase of £13,713 to make a total grant of £260,243

St Mary's Cathedral Renovation Project

Applicant: Wrexham Diocesan Trust

Local Authority: Powys

Project description: A project to carry out essential repair work to the floor and remove asbestos from the building, to replace the out-dated heating system to a low carbon, energy efficient one, and to raise the profile of the cathedral as a focal point within the city of Wrexham.

Decision: Reject

Preserving Gower's Heritage: Embracing Bilingual Signage to Celebrate Welsh Language, Culture, and Inclusivity for Future Generations

Local Authority: Swansea

Project description: This is a four-month project aimed at addressing the current lack of Welsh language signage in the Gower Heritage Centre. Through professional translation and the design and creation of new bilingual signage, the project aims to ensure that the Centre better represents Wales' linguistic and cultural heritage, addressing the Inclusion, Access and Participation investment principle.

Project description: This twelve-month project, running from August 2025, will involve the screening of cultural movies and storytelling to empower and educate the BAME community in Swansea about the history and development of their culture and how to protect and record any material for future generations.

The Creation of a Community Hub at St Mary's Church, Hay on Wye

Applicant: St Mary's Church Hay on Wye Parochial Church Council

Project description: This is a six-week capital project to work towards St Mary’s, a church in Hay-on-Wye, becoming a community and arts hub.

Murals of Wales: A Celebration of Heritage and Identity

Applicant: Dazzle-Cymru CIC

Local Authority: Rhondda Cynon Taf

Project description: This three-month project will involve 15-20 participants taking part in workshops between September 2025 and December 2025 to create three murals reflecting key elements of Welsh heritage, such as historic landmarks, myths, legends, the Welsh language and other cultural aspects. The workshops will be open to participants from all sections of the community.

Project description: This is a proposed seventeen month project (July 2025 – January 2027) to investigate, preserve and celebrate the history of Cwmbran RFC to date as the club approaches its 150th anniversary in 2030.

Project description: This is a one year re-submitted project to conduct remediation work and celebrate the social history of two miners’ cottages in rural mid-Wales with historic links between the local population and school children in Birmingham.

Project description: This 11-month project aims to uncover and capture myths and stories relating to stars and constellations across Wales, through open online sessions and training for storytellers, leading up to community engagement programmes during Dark Skies Week (February 2026).

Reigniting the Sir Henry Jones Museum: A Path to a Sustainable future

Project description: This is a two-year resilience project which looks to explore options for securing the future of the Sir Henry Jones Museum in Llangernyw in north Wales.

Decision: Award Grant of £119,000 (100%)

Applicant: Clwydian Range Archaeology Group

Local Authority: Denbighshire

Project description: Running for four years, this project will investigate the archaeology of prehistoric ring cairns at Bryneglwys, engage local communities with the emerging heritage and ensure its preservation for future generations.

Caerllion Rufeinig, Porth i Partneriaeth I Caerllion Rufeinig: Roman Caerleon Gateway 'Partnership' Project

Applicant: National Museum of Wales (Amgueddfa Genedlaethol Cymru)

Project description: This 18-month project, running from July 2025 to January 2027, is a partnership with CADW, Newport City Council, and the Caerleon community. It aims to enhance visitor experiences and explore ways to increase the site’s economic impact locally and beyond.
