The Tay Landscape Partnership scheme provided opportunities for people to learn about and more actively participate in their landscape and its heritage.

The day has given me greater confidence in how to tackle my trees.

The River Tay and its firth, to the east of Perth and including the Carse of Gowrie, is rich in biodiversity, agriculture, and history.

The natural and cultural importance of the landscape had long been undervalued and little understood by the public. This four-year scheme, led by Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust and Perth and Kinross Countryside Trust, conserved and restored key features as well as enabled locals and visitors to reconnect with the natural, built and cultural heritage of the area.

Working with orchard keepers and volunteers, the scheme brought some orchards back to life by caring for old trees and propagating new stock to replace them. In the process this provided opportunities for skills training in orchard management.
