Pupils from the schools in Thurrock drew on their various visits to museums and sessions with expert speakers to create a performance for parents and the community. 

For the majority of our children, this was the first and will most likely be the only chance they will get to see a show of such a nature.

Katie Allwood, Project Coordinator, said: "The activities reached those children who struggle with concentration and behaviour issues in school, and it proved an excellent way for children to take ownership and pride in their own learning. I am proud of our achievements with this performance."

Workshops on the theme of remembrance, visits to local memorials and learning how to research local names in the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website all played a part and all the primary school pupils went to see a production of Warhorse in London.

Schools visited the Essex Regimental Museum and the Imperial War Museum, and had sessions with experts from the local museum, the Western Front Association and the War Memorials Trust.
