The bells, a ring of five founded by Thomas Eayre of Kettering, had not been in use for 10 years. They are described by specialists as near unique and are listed in the Church Buildings Council’s Schedule of Bells for Preservation.

Volunteers were involved in the physical work of removing, transporting and rehanging the bells. They also visited a bell foundry during the restoration work to see the restored bells being tested.

The history of the bells has been researched and the restoration work well documented. A new church booklet has been created, giving details not only of the bells but also of the Georgian church and the neighbouring Northamptonshire village. A bell ringing group from a nearby village have trained local people – including many young people – ensuring that bell ringing will continue into the future. 62 visiting bell ringers have rung at the church so far, in addition to the church’s 10 dedicated local ringers.
