Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s Lighthouse building in Glasgow was refurbished to create a Centre for Architecture and Design.

The A-listed building was the former headquarters of the Glasgow Herald and one of the first buildings to be designed by Mackintosh. One of the most significant features of the building is a 150-foot octagonal tower on the front corner of the building.

The refurbishment enabled the upper floors of the building to be open to the public, with two gallery spaces showing temporary and permanent exhibitions, a 100-seat conference centre, a children’s gallery, and a rooftop viewing platform.

The project included improvements to visitor access and the formation of the Mackintosh Centre, providing a focus for the interpretation of Mackintosh’s work
