Robert ap Huw's manuscript is considered one of the most important sources of early Welsh music. It is the main source of cerdd dant (string music), the art of vocal improvisation over a given melody. This Welsh musical tradition remains an important competition in today’s modern Eisteddfodau.

To commemorate the 400th anniversary of the manuscript, young people explored Wales’ music heritage and brought the manuscript into the modern age by creating new works in response to it.

The new compositions were showcased in a live public performance, and recorded for publication on the project website, which promoted the new works, and Robert ap Huw's historical manuscript, to a wider audience.
