Harewood House is a glorious mix of a Scheduled Ancient Monument, Grade I listed buildings and a registered typically English park and garden.

Through a five-year programme, Harewood Explored developed a long term inclusive Learning and Access Programme in order to reach new audiences and share its stories more widely. The role of Women in Country Houses, the clash of cultures in Carnival Messiah and the personal collections of Princess Mary, the daughter of King George V and Queen Mary as subsequent projects have intrigued, inspired and educated visitors and children bringing to the fore the breadth of heritage available at this splendid site.

Terry Suthers MBE, Executive Director, Harewood House Trust from 1992 to 2007, said: "In combination, the qualitative and direct community benefits of those ground-breaking projects supported by the Heritage Fund at Harewood, and their continuing legacy, was immense. Indeed transformational."
