The Grade II* listed instrument comprises eight ranks of pipes from the original organ built in 1720 by respected organ builder Abraham Jordan. It had been commissioned by the First Duke of Chandos and was originally installed in his magnificent palace, Canons, where it was played by the Duke’s personal musician, Handel.

At the time of his death the Duke’s debts left his son and heir with no choice but to dispose of his palace. The organ was purchased by the parishioners of Holy Trinity Church where it was last reconstructed with new additions in 1897.

This project enabled a full restoration and the employment of an outreach officer. Their role was to work with primary and secondary schools, youth clubs, colleges and music groups to tell the fascinating story of the instrument and record the history on a DVD.
