Armagh City and District Council was awarded a grant to restore and enhance the historic Armagh Mall, introducing disabled access and new lighting.

This project aimed to restore the Mall while maintaining its historical roots and its modern day surroundings. Improvements included repairing boundary walls and railings, replacing park furniture, tree management, resurfacing footpaths and improving drainage of grassed areas.

The programme of improvements also introduced disabled access facilities and new lighting. These improvements were designed to increase the public’s enjoyment of the site and broaden its appeal to both the local community and visitors to the city.

The Mall is on the Register of Parks and is widely recognised to be of national importance. It was built in the 18th century after George III granted the lands to the Lord Primate of Armagh for ‘useful purposes’. The mall is now surrounded by some of Armagh’s finest Georgian architecture – the majority of which is listed.
