Role
Committee Member for England, Midlands & East
Inspired in his youth by his grandfather’s interest in the natural world, Shaun has a lifelong professional and personal interest in nature with experience of the public, charity and community sectors.

Shaun is passionate about restoring nature at scale and spent his career working for the statutory nature conservation organisations, Defra and for the RSPB. Most recently he was the Chief Operating Officer responsible for RSPB’s work across the UK.

Having left full-time work in 2023, Shaun is a Trustee of Butterfly Conservation and also chairs a charity responsible for a local community orchard formed by a partnership between the community, the local authority and the developer who owns the site. He is also a member of the Office for Environmental Protection’s College of Experts.

While Shaun has worked across England and the UK, he has a strong sense of connection to the Midlands and East having lived or been based in these regions for most of his life.
