Whether it’s the stunning architecture of its cathedrals, stories of its literary giants, beautiful rolling landscapes or steam trains roaring through the countryside, Cumbria has it all.

This northern corner of the UK has some incredible heritage. Now with the Lake District joining the likes of the Grand Canyon, the Taj Mahal and Machu Picchu with UNESCO World Heritage status, even more people can enjoys its heritage.

We’ve taken a look at some of the amazing places supported by the National Lottery which you can plan your days out to this summer. So why not get started on planning your Cumbrian adventure!

7. Discovering Millom’s ‘Iron Town’ story

Learn about West Cumbria’s industrial past and immerse yourself in the story of the ‘Iron Town’ at Millom Discovery Centre thanks to the enthusiasm of its dedicated volunteers.

8. Award winning attraction, Keswick Museum

Take a look inside Keswick Museum - Cumbria Life Culture Awards ‘Museum of the Year’ 2015 and Cumbria Tourism Awards 2015 Best Small Visitor Attraction – thanks to a recent National Lottery refurbishment.
