Story of London
In 2010 Story of London will focus on London’s future. Innovation has been a constant thread in London’s history. London has a past rich in creativity and innovation and has been home to world class thinkers, scientists, inventors and statesmen. The festival will examine the stories London’s heritage tells about past breakthroughs, how innovation in the present day is an economic engine and how the city can innovate as it faces the challenges of the 21st century and beyond.
The Story of London festival will run from 1st – 10th October 2010. For more information and key dates.

Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) London region welcomes applications for projects with a clear heritage focus that meet our criteria. Applications must be made under our two existing grant streams, 'Your Heritage' and 'Young Roots'. Please note that, although these programmes normally offer maximum grants of £50,000 and £25,000 respectively, to meet the reduced assessment timescales, Story of London grants requests must be between £3,000 and £10,000.
We will fund heritage projects which result in celebratory events, performances and exhibitions, but these should always be the culmination of a project in which participants have had an opportunity to learn about and enjoy the heritage. A project which is only concerned with organising a one-off celebratory event, performance or exhibition is unlikely to meet our priorities.
Key Dates:
- 13 April 2010 HLF pre-application workshop
- 23 April 2010 Deadline for applications to GLA for inclusion in Festival via GLA website
- 12 May 2010 HLF workshop for those projects participating in Story of London
- 12 noon, 21 May 2010 HLF application deadline
- 25 June 2010 HLF application decision.
