Share your First World War Centenary project online

At HLF, we want your project to reach as many people as possible, both now and in the future. We are therefore excited to be working in partnership with the British Library and Historypin to provide two services which will help you share your project, and ensure that future generations are able to look back and see how the UK marked this important event.

British Library UK Web Archive

The British Library UK Web Archive takes snapshots of websites and preserves them for future generations, long after the original websites have disappeared or changed. This is part of a ‘special collections’ series, based on major national events such as the Olympics general elections and now the First World War centenary. All HLF-funded First World War Centenary projects will be featured in this collection. View the first few of these archived sites here.

If you have HLF funding for a First World War Centenary project, please send the URL (web address) to us with your project reference number. By doing so, you will help future generations to see how your organisation marked the First World War Centenary. You can also nominate a site for archiving.

Historypin

We are also working in partnership with Historypin, which is creating a dedicated First World War Centenary online hub to host HLF-funded Centenary projects.  Project will be able to set up their own dedicated page, share heritage and contemporary media on a map, and allow others to explore and contribute. We will be in touch with HLF-funded projects about how to join to hub over the coming weeks, before its public launch in the later in the autumn.

Visit the Historypin website to find out more about Historypin and explore the existing local heritage collections.
