Guy Fawkes's Latern in Houses of Parliament
Guy Fawkes is said to have been carrying this lantern on his arrest in the cellars of the Houses of Parliament Dylan Nolte
This week, the lantern Guy Fawkes was holding when he was arrested beneath the House of Lords in 1605 for his part in the Gunpowder Plot returned to Parliament for the first time in over 400 years.

It created an incredible buzz as the Culture Secretary Karen Bradley lined-up alongside scores of parliamentarians to have her picture taken with this incredible piece of our national story.

Usually housed at the HLF-supported Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, it was on display at a reception marking the 500,000th National Lottery grant for UK good causes.

It joined an illustrious showcase of National Lottery-funded projects and items including a Sex Pistols branded t-shirt and zines from the Museum of London’s Punks exhibition,  which is marking 40 years of Punk in the capital.
