Simon James’ picture of Lovell Telescope at Jodrell Bank is the winner of our #HeritageTreasures competition.

To mark the launch of the HLF on Instagram and Facebook, we ran a month-long photography competition to celebrate the UK’s fantastic and diverse heritage - and we had so many incredible entries!

We were overwhelmed with the response on social media. Over 7,000 pictures have been shared and on the launch day the hashtag #HeritageTreasures trended on Twitter.

Entries have included colourful Lancashire cotton reels; the sun setting behind a Barbara Hepworth sculpture at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park; stunning views of St Mary's Parish Church in Haddington; a beautiful quilt from The Quilters Guild;  people dressing up at the Handel and Hendrix Museum and more.

It has been incredibly difficult to pick a winner from such a diverse range of photos, but we loved Simon’s picture taken during the Bluedot Festival – many congratulations!

Today we are also sharing our top 20 entries on social media. Click on the above image and scroll through to see the top five. This selection will also be shared across the HLF social media channels from today and will go on digital display in our head offices in London.

Take a look at the #HeritageTreasures pictures on Twitter, on Instagram and on Facebook. Let us know which are your top entries.
