HLF is now on Instagram and Facebook. To mark the occasion, today we launch a month-long photography competition that aims to celebrate the UK’s fantastic and diverse heritage.

Open to all, including our past, present and potential future grantees, we’re asking everyone to share an image of their favourite heritage – their #HeritageTreasures - and tell us why they love it.

Post a photo on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag #HeritageTreasures. Make sure you 'like' our social media channels and don't forget to tag us in your post by using the @ symbol before our username.

The image could be a medieval castle, a historic park, a 1930s cinema, a painting or artefact or even one of our many native species such as the red squirrel or the bluebell.

We will share our top images online and they will also go on digital display at our head office in London.
