Four members sought to join our Committee for Yorkshire and the Humber
HLF is looking to appoint four committee members to join our Committee for Yorkshire and the Humber.
Why join an HLF Committee?
Being a committee member presents an exciting and challenging opportunity for individuals with a strong commitment to our diverse heritage.
John Hamshere, HLF Yorkshire & the Humber committee member, who will be standing down in December 2012, said:“I have really enjoyed my six plus years on the Committee for Yorkshire & the Humber and it has gone far too quickly. I consider it one of the most worthwhile activities I have undertaken. The importance of the HLF to the heritage of this country, in its widest sense, cannot be overstated. I have felt privileged to have contributed towards the future of heritage in the region.”
The work of our Committees
Our committees take decisions on all requests between £100,000 and £2million and provide a crucial regional perspective to the HLF Board on larger grants, targeted initiatives and on regional priorities. Members meet people involved in heritage projects, represent HLF at openings and events and act as an advocate for the value of heritage to modern life.
Who should consider applying
Members need to have a broad appreciation of heritage and a commitment to promoting public understanding and enjoyment of it to the widest possible audience. We look for an understanding of regional issues and project development and delivery and an ability to think strategically and analytically and for good communication skills.
We encourage interest from people with a range of backgrounds and experience. We welcome individuals from black, Asian and minority ethnic communities, individuals with disabilities and applications from younger people.
How to apply
Online application materials will be available on our Committee Vacancies page from Monday 4 June. The closing date for applications is Monday 9 July.

We are seeking to appoint two members to start their terms on 1 January 2013, and two members to start on 1 April 2013.
