As a public body, we must comply with the Public Sector Equality Duty obligations as outlined in the Equality Act 2010, which applies in England, Scotland and Wales. We must also comply with Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998, which states that public authorities should pay due regard to the need to promote equality of opportunity and promote good relations between persons of different religious belief, political opinion or racial group.

We are therefore committed to promoting equality of opportunity and ensuring our funding programmes, initiatives, strategies, policies and decision-making processes do not have any adverse impacts on groups with protected characteristics. 

Heritage 2033

To meet this commitment, we've carried out an equality impact assessment of Heritage 2033 and our delivery plan for 2026–2029. You can download a PDF of the assessment from this page.

The assessment is an evidence-based tool, which enables us to consider the potential impact (both negative and positive) of changes in our work on different groups of people. It will be regularly reviewed and updated throughout the life of Heritage 2033.
