Project description: To secure the future of the Grade I listed Trinity Centre, a former church located on Gateshead High Street. To bring the building back into use as a permanent home for Gateway Studio to deliver dance education programmes and provide a new community café and event space for associated arts and community activity.

The Wharf Marple: A new life a new Heritage Centre

Applicant: The Wharf Marple Community Interest Company

Project description: To restore a Grade II listed former warehouse into Marple’s first heritage and community centre, bringing to life and preserving the story of Marple’s industrial heritage and providing spaces for community use.

Decision: Award delivery grant of £868,210 (90%)

The Hepworth Wakefield / Wakefield Art Collection New Acquisition: Barbara Hepworth, Sculpture with Colour (Oval Form) Pale Blue and Red, 1943

Applicant: The Hepworth Wakefield

Project description: To acquire Sculpture with Colour (Oval Form) Pale Blue and Red by Dame Barbara Hepworth and retain this sculpture in the UK as it is at risk of export. This project will ensure the sculpture is publicly displayed at The Hepworth Gallery, in the city of Hepworth’s birth, for UK audiences.

Decision: Award delivery grant of £1,891,000 (50%)

Lit & Phil Open

Applicant: Literary & Philosophical Society of Newcastle upon Tyne

Project description: To implement building renovations to repair and enhance the accessibility and potential of the 'Lit & Phil' premises and improve environmental sustainability. The project will also introduce an activity programme aimed at engaging a broader audience and address the needs of the collection.

Decision: Award development grant of £274,263 (86% of total eligible development costs) and a potential delivery grant of £4,583,016 (79% of total eligible delivery costs)

St. Mary's in the Marketplace, Stockport – Redevelopment Phase 7 (Heritage Centre)

Applicant: The Parochial Church Council of The Ecclesiastical Parish of Stockport and Brinnington

Project description: To ensure the future of the church through repairs and targeted improvements on the building. In conjunction with capital improvements, it will develop a heritage offer and other community initiatives responding to community needs.

Decision: Award development grant of £343,234 (90% of total eligible development costs) and a potential delivery grant of £2,511,300 (90% of total eligible delivery costs)

Creating Harpurhey Wetlands: A Sanctuary for People and Wildlife

Applicant: Groundwork Greater Manchester

Project description: To maximise the site’s potential to support nature recovery and climate change resilience, through habitat improvements and other essential site improvements. An activity programme including heritage interpretation and digital walking route maps will be co-designed with local communities.

Applicant: Wigan Methodist Mission

Project description: To complete extensive repairs and improvements to the building, and deliver a varied programme of heritage and cultural activities for local users and wider audiences.

Realising the Marine Heritage of The Dove Marine Laboratory: Engaging and Educating Communities on Sustainable and Healthy Seas

Applicant: The University of Newcastle upon Tyne

Project description: To redevelop the Dove Marine Laboratory into a more accessible educational resource for wider community use, delivering an engagement programme to increase understanding of the natural heritage of the North East coast and the importance of marine conservation.

Decision: Award development grant of £336,971 (79%) and a potential delivery grant of £2,486,201 (78%)

Our Cathedral; Our City (2)

Applicant: Manchester Cathedral

Project description: To carry out capital work to ensure all spaces are accessible, welcoming and better meet the needs of visitors, volunteers and staff. Engagement activity will explore and share currently hidden heritage and build new community relationships made possible through the capital work.

Decision: Award development grant of £571,883 (54% of total eligible development costs) and a potential delivery grant of £4,035,746 (44% of total eligible delivery costs)

Heritage at the Heart of Park

Applicant: Halifax Opportunities Trust

Project description: To restore and adapt the Grade II listed Queens Road Neighbourhood Centre in the heart of Park ward and return it to community use as a permanent hub. To connect the community with its history, fostering meaningful ties to the present and future, whilst engaging those who typically do not interact with the heritage.
