Restoration of Coxmoor Road Pumping Station Underground Victorian Reservoir and Reuse as a Science Discovery Centre

Applicant: Mansfield and Sutton Astronomical Society CIO

Project description: This project in north Nottinghamshire, between the towns of Sutton-in-Ashfield and Kirkby-in-Ashfield, would restore and repurpose a Victorian reservoir to create a Science Discovery Centre and Planetarium. Activities would use the story of site to inspire young people to pursue STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).

Project description: St Mary Magdalene, Geddington is situated four miles north-east of Kettering. This project will clean the east window and restore the medieval reredos and its later painted panels and will also engage local people with the site's history.

Trans-Atlantic Telegraph Table Chart 1866

Applicant: Hay Mills Foundation Trust

Project description: This project is to repair and conserve the Trans-Atlantic Telegraph Table Chart 1866. It was published by the Hydrographic Office of the British Admiralty in 1857 and shows the bed of the Atlantic Ocean overlaid with written records of daily messages from the Great Eastern, the vessel responsible for the laying of the first successful telegraph cable between England and United States of America in 1866.

Heritage Crafts for Sustainability and Wellbeing

Project description: This project will see Staffordshire Care Farming Development deliver a programme of workshops focused on heritage skills development.
