The Way Forward

Applicant: Parochial Church Council of St Mary’s, Stebbing

Project description: A major internal restoration of St Mary's Church, Stebbing, which will address damp and draft problems affecting the building and ensure the building serves the needs of the community now and in the future. The project will also run a series of events to share awareness of the building's heritage and engage the community with environmental and wellbeing themes.

Decision: Award grant increase of £9,936 to make a total grant of £72,936

Bringing Back the Treble Bob

Applicant: The PCC of St Giles Church, Killamarsh

Project description: This project will conserve the bells within the Grade II* Listed Killamarsh Church and aims to promote and protect the unique peal of the bells, named the 'Killamarsh Treble Bob', alongside numerous project activities.

Decision: Award grant of £76,450

 

National Lottery Grants for Heritage: grant increase applications

Renewing Top Church for the People of Dudley

Applicant: Dudley Resourcing Churches Trust

Project description: Repairs to masonry around the roof and windows of the church will solve urgent problems with the church, and the church's painted window will be cleaned and repaired. An 18-month programme of events will involve the local community and schools in telling the church's story.

Decision: Award grant increase of £23,967 to make a total grant of £695,910

A Celebration of Caribbean Cultural Diversity in Nottingham

Applicant: Diversify Education and Communities CIC

Project description: This project will deliver a celebration of Caribbean culture in recognition of the arrival of the Windrush Generation to the UK 75 years ago. The project's aim is to create awareness of how the Windrush Generation shaped the Britain we live in today, and also to share the traditions and cultures including food, dress from the various Caribbean islands.

Decision: Award grant of £10,000

 

Building Community through NBHA's Black History Archive

Applicant: Northampton Arts Collective Limited

Project description: This project will help to catalogue the NHMA’S Black History Archive, to understand its scope, appraise and order the archive it to make all the documents safe and accessible.

Decision: Reject

 

SHARPening Democracy

Applicant: The Sedgeford Historical and Archaeological Research Project

Project description: This project in Sedgeford, Norfolk, supports the second half of an annual archaeological excavation in the parish, a consultation to support future planning and widening of access to archaeology, and a trial of a solar array as a power source. Consultation and the testing of new approaches to power are aimed at supporting the resilience and sustainability of the organisation for future years.

Project description: To restore the 18th century church clock.

Project description: This project aims to halt the physical deterioration of St Peter and St Paul's, a Grade II* listed church, and remove it from the Heritage at Risk register.

Desi Fest Luton 2023

Applicant: Desi Arts Development Group CIC

Project description: To create an outdoor cultural festival which will be grounded in the heritage of Luton's diverse South Asian communities.

Decision: Award grant of £10,000

 

Don't Dis my Ability: Marginalised voices from sport

Applicant: Coventry University

Project description: This oral history project will involve recording the experiences of participants and present the findings through creative media and within academic publications. The interpretation of the oral histories will be delivered by disabled artists who will be commissioned to explore creative options of sharing the findings alongside community engagement events.

Decision: Award grant of £45,708

Project description: This resilience project will develop a five year business plan for Rockingham Forest Trust, based near Corby in Northamptonshire.

Project description: This project will repair the church spire.

Time Will Tell

Project description: This project would involve young people including offenders, care leavers, asylum seekers and those at risk of exclusion in exploring and sharing local heritage with school children through after school clubs.

Project description: This project will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Jericho Foundation by capturing its heritage and creating an exhibition.

Project description: This project is the first phase of a wider project to help us better understand and utilise the Hahnemann House Trust archive through improved documentation.

Joseph Conrad - the life of a Lowestoft Immigrant

Project description: This project will explore the positive impact of immigrants upon English Coastal towns through the story of Joseph Conrad, the famous novelist who arrived in Lowestoft as an immigrant in the 19th century not speaking more than a dozen words of English.

Project description: This project will engage a wider range of people with Chelmsford's local heritage through activities which will take place during the Heritage Open Days.

Project description: This community-led project is aimed at engaging residents from the village of Yaxley in Cambridgeshire to learn about and record their local history.

Dancing Through Time

Project description: This project will uncover the story of Miss Nora Morrison MBE, celebrating the diversity of styles and cultures of dance that have been represented in Clarendon Chambers through time. It will link together a local historian, previous students of Miss Nora, individuals and community groups from across Nottingham to create a documentary film to share locally and globally.

Windrush 75 - Reggae Day & Cultural Journey - Back for the Future

Applicant: Together in the Community

Project description: This project will see Together in the Community stage a one-day Reggae Day event marking the 75th anniversary of Windrush. This will be followed by an opportunity for members of the local community to take part in a Cultural Journey event to visit Tilbury Port, Essex where they will learn about the history of the Empire Windrush.

Northampton Market Square - Uncovering the History Beneath our Feet

Project description: To design and install new physical and digital interpretation in a regenerated Market Square and run heritage markets and activities to celebrate the town's heritage. Aspects of the interpretation will be carved into the paving, embedding narratives and images into the space.

Project description: This will be a two part project with college students collecting research, oral histories, and videos of elderly residents of Great Yarmouth to create two exhibitions and a documentary film about the town's heritage.

Wisbech Corn Exchange - Heritage and Creativity Unwrapped!

Applicant: Wisbech Corn Exchange Conservation Trust

Project description: This project in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, will carry out a consultation on options for the future of the town's Corn Exchange building, This work is in support of a longer term project to restore the building to sustainable community use, presenting the building's heritage and obtaining feedback on the three options provided by an architect.
