National Lottery Heritage Grants £250,000 to £10million Delivery round applications

Celebrating the Cascade at Chatsworth

Applicant: Chatsworth House Trust

Project description: Restore the 18th century Cascade at Chatsworth House, Derbyshire which is the stately home of the Dukes of Devonshire, located between Bakewell and Chesterfield in the valley of the River Derwent, within the Peak District National Park.

Decision: Award Delivery grant of £4,573,062 (66%)

Restoring and Celebrating the Heritage of Woodoaks Farm

Applicant: The Soil Association Land Trust

Project description: Develop existing farm buildings into a new Education and Community Hub, while a wide-ranging activity programme will deliver landscape and habitat improvements.

Decision: Award Delivery grant of £1,780,736 (73%)

The Kitchen Project

Applicant: The Food Museum Ltd

Project description: The capital works scheme will develop a central hub of visitor attractions within the museum’s large site, encapsulating the ‘Make’ element of the museum’s strapline. Works will rationalise the visitor journey across site, with building improvements increasing the museum’s capacity for delivering year-round events.

Decision: Award Delivery grant of £3,950,000 (69%)

Growing our Green Heritage: Restoring Birmingham's Botanical Gardens for Life

Applicant: Birmingham Botanical & Horticultural Society Limited

Project description: This project will reveal the Victorian grandeur of the garden. Facilities will be upgraded and new site-wide interpretation introduced to meet visitor expectations. A community engagement programme will be delivered to diversify visitor demographics and increase income.

Decision: Award Delivery grant of £9,074,999 (45%)

Heritage Enterprise: A Homely Future for St Michael's Place, Warwick

Applicant: West Midlands Historic Buildings Trust

Project description: This Heritage Enterprise project will restore the two listed buildings and convert them into social housing accommodation.

Decision: Award Delivery grant of £2,825,361 (66%)

Romans Unearthed: Suffolk's Hidden Villas

Applicant: Suffolk County Council

Project description: Deliver a programme of community engagement, onsite archaeological training, archive digitisation, experimental archaeology and community outreach focusing on Suffolk’s Roman Villas.

Decision: Award Development round grant of £169,830 (80% of total development costs) with the potential delivery grant of £773,275 (78% of total delivery costs)

Water, Wildlife, Wellbeing at Rickmansworth Aquadrome

Applicant: Three Rivers District Council

Project description: This project aims to increase the resilience of Rickmansworth Aquadrome, improving habitats, targeting priority species, mitigating the impacts of flooding and improving access and engagement for communities.

Decision: Award Development round grant of £736,515 (94% of total development costs) with the potential delivery grant of £4,146,114 (76% of total delivery costs)

St Mary's House & St Mary's Church - Building for a Renewed Future

Applicant: The Parochial Church Council of St. Mary, Woodbridge

Project description: This project seeks to restore and upgrade the Grade II listed St Mary’s House and provide modern facilities in the Grade I listed St Mary’s Church, to maximise community use of spaces and solve access problems between the buildings.

Decision: Reject

Applicant: St Mary The Virgin Church (St Mary's), Wirksworth

Project description: Address urgent repairs required to remove St Mary’s Church, Wirksworth from the Heritage at Risk Register. Making it watertight, it will also improve physical access and strengthen heritage engagement and understanding through the delivery of an inclusive two-year programme of activities.

Decision: Award Development round grant of £313,770 (88% of total development costs) with the potential delivery grant of £1,425,157 (89% of total delivery costs)

Crostwight Church: Saving and Promoting a Heritage Treasure

Applicant: The Parochial Church Council of Honing with Crostwight

Project description: The project aims to undertake a programme of remedial works to All Saints, Crostwight. The works will involve repairs to the church fabric, conservation of the medieval wall paintings and remedial works in the churchyard.

Decision: Award Development round grant of £42,340 (79% of total development costs) with the potential delivery grant of £437,583 (91% of total delivery costs)

Repairing the Rock: Saving St Peter's and All Souls

Applicant: The East Anglia Roman Catholic Diocesan Trust

Project description: This project will save the heritage of St Peter and All Souls by securing the foundations of the church building to rectify the structural movement and remove the church from the Heritage at Risk Register.

Decision: Award Development round grant of £218,324 (80% of total development costs) with the potential delivery grant of £1,568,771 (72% of total delivery costs)

All Saints Wacton - A Common Connection

Applicant: The Parochial Church Council of Wacton Magna with Wacton Parva

Project description: The PCC seek to undertake essential fabric repairs to All Saints, Wacton removing it from the Heritage at Risk Register and deliver an activity and learning programme with a view to establishing a hub that will connect the wider community to the church and surrounding area. This would result in both supporting the church’s future sustainability and increasing access and participation.
