Project description: research the Club's 93 year history and engage the community. Create an exhibition, film and celebration event.

Exeter Heritage Volunteers

Applicant: Exeter Historic Buildings Trust

Project description: trial the establishment of a collaborative volunteering programme across a number of the city's heritage attractions: St Nicholas Priory, Exeter Cathedral, Custom House, Devon & Exeter Institution, Royal Albert Memorial Museum, South West Heritage Trust.

Spirit of Windrush - Contributions to Multicultural Britain

Applicant: Churches Together In England

Project description: mark the 75th Anniversary of the Windrush’s Generation’s arrival to the UK. Hold a national service, an all-day conference and other activities and produce a booklet.

Brighton Writing Around the Kids

Applicant: New Writing South

Project description: engage local families with the collections at Brighton Museum, particularly targeting women from areas of economic deprivation in the region. The project will culminate in an exhibition of their writing displayed in the museum as well as audio recordings.

Project description: Hold three events in Southwark dedicated to the remembrance of trans and non-binary people. Install sculpture within Crossbones Memorial Garden dedicated to the remembrance of trans people.

Project description: renovate and explore the heritage of Buckfastleigh Methodist Church, transforming it into a community hub.

Securing the Emperor's Legacy

Project description: engage African, Caribbean and other Black communities in Bath with the heritage and legacy of Haile Selassie I, Emperor of Ethiopia from 1930-1974, who lived in exile at Fairfield House from 1936-1940.

Project Description: To install a sound system in the church that that will enable live streaming.

The Ration Book and Evacuee Project

Project description: intergenerational reminiscence project with Age UK Hounslow members and secondary school pupils from Reach Academy. It will focus on child evacuees during the Second World War and life under rationing.

Restoration of Accessible Bus

Project description: The restoration of the accessible former bus Southern Vectis 300, which can carry wheelchair users. The restoration will enable the museum to offer accessible services at their events.

Project description: undertake repairs to this Grade I Listed church, bringing the building back into a useable space.

Okehampton Town Folk Trail

Project description: create a digital folk song trail linked to the heritage of Okehampton in West Devon. Music recordings, photos, documents and possibly oral history recordings will be integrated within the trail.

Project description: focus on the traditional attire and costumes of Brent's diverse communities. Workshops, skills development and a Community Grants Programme.

Project description: examine the way Indian Classical dance creates can support vulnerable communities.

Project description: engage people with the heritage of Humanism through the digitisation of existing archives, creation of online learning resources, oral history activities and a range of events.

Project description: recruit project staff to engage the community in learning about the heritage of a collection of 400 teddy bears.

#DYC Your Museum of Enfield

Project description: the Museum of Enfield will create a new cataloguing system and transfer object registrations from index cards to the new database using volunteer support. Lunchtime talks, museum late events and edit-a-thons will take place.

Repurposing of historical red phone box to a public information centre

Project description: renovate a red telephone box which has been recently adopted and relocate it to the centre of the village. Turn the telephone box into an information centre.

Project description: a step in the process of conserving Grenville Battery and making it accessible and useable. Work with communities and interest groups to establish the best possible future for this military structure.

Decision: Award grant of £10,000

Project description: oral history project focusing on Dorset's diverse ethnic communities, sharing their stories, experiences and memories of coming to Dorset.

The colours of Greenwich: how our migration experiences enrich our local communities

Project description: record the oral histories of 15 women, documenting their experiences as refugees and understanding how different cultures influence their sense of belonging in Greenwich.

Sail Trade South West

Applicant: Lynher River Barge CIC

Project description: create a series of eco-friendly sail transport routes in the South West of England inspired by Lynher, a Tamar sailing barge built to transport produce along the Plymouth waterways.

Project description: engage secondary school children with urban nature in four areas: Westminster, Camden, Enfield and Luton.

Hainault Ancient Forest

Project description: preserving the Hainault Forest SSSI as a site of national landscape and ecological significance. The delivery of this major restoration project has coincided with COVID-10, Brexit, the war in Ukraine and the cost of living crisis, resulting in delays, adjustments and cost increases. The grant increase will help ensure the final elements of the project can be delivered.

Decision: Award grant increase of £250,000

 

Reviving Victoria Park - the people's park in Portsmouth

Applicant: Portsmouth City Council

Project Description: reinstate and revive Victoria Park, Portsmouth's first public park. Restore, improve and celebrate the park’s heritage, and create an inclusive and engaging activity hub and greenspace. Grant increase is requested as a result of increase to tender costs due to inflation.
