Two museums worked closely with local agencies and community groups to open up volunteering opportunities to people who would not usually engage with heritage.

Volunteers from Newquay Rowing Club worked alongside specialist boat builders to restore three of the country’s oldest pilot gigs using traditional skills.

The Curious Incident of the Gurkha Knife shared the role of South Asian soldiers in the First World War through live performances and an exhibition.

A team of volunteers received training to survey, document and conserve small ancient woodlands for the benefit of local communities.
