Moor Park is a Victorian Park to the north of central Preston covering 40 acres.

It is the oldest and largest of Preston’s public parks, and is Grade II on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens.

Preston City Council is overseeing an HLF supported project to balance the historical restoration of the park with the needs of modern day audiences. The aim is to make Moor Park safe and accessible to all. It will improve the quality of infrastructure and ensure the park's story can be told.

Specific areas of work include:

  • repairing key heritage structures, including the grotto and observatory
  • improvements to the park’s infrastructure, such as paths and drainage
  • the installation of a new skate park

Enhancing engagement with the park and ensuring its sustainability is also a focus during this work, with the council aiming to involve 500 volunteers each year in the park’s upkeep and programme of activities.
