Dr Fiona McLean has had a lifelong passion for heritage in Scotland.

Previously a Professor of Cultural Heritage Management at Glasgow Caledonian University, Fiona now sits on the board of Historic Environment Scotland.

She has worked extensively with community groups in the Cairngorms National Park, supporting them in developing and achieving their heritage goals. As a non-executive director on the Cairngorms National Park Authority, Fiona champions local heritage and promotes the landscapes and nature of the park.

Fiona is committed to furthering the cause of equality, diversity and inclusion, and in both her academic research and in her capacity as a non-executive director, she has championed equality issues. Fiona has also worked with young people through the Feisean movement, giving opportunities to learn more about Gaelic language and heritage.

Fiona is currently the Rector of the University of the Highlands and Islands, having previously been Vice Chair of the University of the Highlands and Islands Court.
