Stuart Hobley is Director, England, London & South . Stuart leads his team to promote, manage and deliver National Lottery funding for heritage across the area. His role involves supporting strategic partnerships, as well as overseeing engagement and investment of grant funding and other income. He works with the team to champion a wide variety of projects that celebrate the role heritage plays in our modern life, including the importance of historic townscapes, museums and nature and green space.
Stuart joined The National Lottery Heritage Fund in 2004, supporting a range of projects across the East of England before becoming head of the London team in 2015. Prior to that, Stuart has worked in local government, economic development and for a national health charity.
Outside of National Lottery distribution, Stuart sits on the Mayor of London’s Culture Strategy Board.
Stuart has a degree in art and has lectured at a number of universities on heritage management. He has previously been a national board member for the BBC Trust’s Audience Council for England, as well as a trustee of a regional museum.
