Jon leads for the Scottish Government on economic engagement in London, a role that encompasses fields such as local economic development, regeneration and innovation.

Formerly, he was the Deputy Director for Capital Investment at the Department of International Trade, the Chief Operating Officer of the Regeneration Investment Organisation, the Assistant Director for Economic Geography at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, and the Homes and Communities Agency’s strategic lead for the Thames Gateway regeneration programme.  

Jon chairs the Central Government Geographers Group and is a Chartered Economic Geographer, Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a Fellow of the Institute of Economic Development.

Much of Jon's career has focused on place shaping, including where possible supporting heritage objectives. This has included masterplanning, development briefs, housing strategy and the development of investment regimes. Jon has lived in London for nearly two decades and strongly believes that heritage is central to sustainable regeneration, economic and community development. He keenly shares his passion with others.
