Izzy’s personal experiences have shaped his interest in using Culture – Heritage, History and the Arts – towards community development, self-realisation and better understanding the potential for social transformation through culture. He currently works as a cultural engagement practitioner at the Library of Birmingham, where he applies and continues to develop his experience in cultural engagement, participation and representation. He is also deeply interested in helping to develop the services and programmes of the Library of Birmingham within the evolving context of the city of Birmingham. Previously, Mr Mohammed was a trustee of the Group for Education in Museums (2006 – 2012).

Izzy Mohammed was born and educated in Birmingham. He was awarded an MA in Museum Studies from the University of Leicester in 2002, and is currently undertaking Doctoral Research (PhD) at the University of Birmingham.
