Volunteers explored the legacy of the First World War in Somerset, sharing their discoveries through an archive, website and events.

Somerset Remembers provided opportunities for people to commemorate the First World War and to learn about its local impact.

Working with Somerset Heritage Service, a team of volunteers researched life in Somerset during the war.

The group shared their discoveries in a temporary exhibition at The Museum of Somerset, which the local community contributed to by lending objects or adding to a remembrance wall. There was a programme of film showings, talks and a living history day.

Three other exhibitions also toured Somerset, using the newly digitised collection of photographs and museum objects. A Somerset Remembers publication was produced. An online blog and community archive continued past the initial project.

The project team also advised individuals and organisations across the county who were running First World War projects.
