Restoring and revitalising a park for the whole community.

Runcorn Hill Park was officially opened as a public parkland in 1923, but the site has made a major contribution to the history and culture of the local area for nearly 300 years. Elements of the park have formerly been places of work, venues for religious gatherings, and spaces for recreation.

The formal grounds of the park are centrally placed, with the heath and wooded quarries to the west and the open fields to the east. The park facilities include a bandstand, putting green, bowling green, lake, tennis courts and a network of footpaths and bridleways.

The planned work will provide the restoration, interpretation and improvement needed for the park to develop and succeed, and for its merits to be enjoyed and offered to a wider audience. It will conserve, restore and develop the diverse historic elements of the park, focusing on its unique industrial and social heritage, and offer improved and new visitor facilities.

The project will also extend community participation in the care and 'ownership' of the park to promote its long-term success.
