Hello all Collecting Cultures projects,
The date for the next Collecting Cultures cohort meeting is Wednesday 2 December –please put this in your diaries now, we will be confirming start and finish times very shortly.
Our host venue for the meeting will be Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, many thanks to BMAG for hosting us this time.
Many thanks also to the other cohort members who had volunteered to be host for this meeting, don’t feel that your offer has been disregarded - we will certainly ask you to host a future meeting. As we are trying to move our meetings around the country as much as possible this time we felt a midlands location made best sense.
We’ll be sending out the agenda and details for the cohort meeting on 2 December this morning – so keep an eye on your inboxes for the email!
To give you a heads up on one of the sessions: my colleague John McMahon, HLF Policy Advisor on Learning and Volunteering will be joining us to lead a session on volunteers and volunteering within Collecting Cultures projects.
John will be posting here shortly to introduce himself and give you a flavour of what he’ll be talking about.
In the meantime it would be great if cohort members could all begin thinking of any questions, or experiences to share at the meeting on this topic.
Hi Vanessa, and everyone -
Really looking forward to meeting you all in Birmingham next week, and to learning more about the exciting work that you're all doing.
In advance of the session, it would be great to think about how you're currently engaging, or planning to engage, people as volunteers in your Collecting Culture projects;
How this relates to the wider volunteering offer of your organisation and/or partners;
What challenges you've faced, or anticipate facing, as you develop your work with volunteers;
Opportunities for innovation in your volunteering practice that you've already identified within your current plans.
This shouldn't be a major, detailed exercise; even if you can just find five-10 minutes to ponder the above in preparation, that would be really valuable to the discussion we'll all be able to have next Wednesday!
With thanks and best wishes,
