Changing your account and profile settings

What is 'My Account'?

When you log in to the HLF website using the 'Log in /Register' link at the top of the site navigation, you'll find yourself on the 'My Account' page. This displays information related to your activity in the community discussion forums, along with your name and any profile information you have added such as your profile picture, if you have uploaded one. You can access this from any page of the website when you are logged in by clicking the 'My account' link at the top.

Your account page is also where you will find options to edit your account settings, profile details and notification alerts, and access your private messages.

How to edit your profile details

On your account page, click on the ‘Edit my profile’ link in the right-hand navigation. You'll then be taken to a page with several options:

Email & Password

On this tab you can change how your firstname and lastname are displayed, upload a profile picture to be displayed next to any content you contribute to the community, display your organisation details, select your location, select any interests you have, add your Twitter handle (if you have one) and write a short biography. You also have the opportunity to switch on/off notifications for receiving private message through the community (this should be set to 'on' by default) and well as set your default language (currently either English or Welsh/Cymraeg). If you make any changes to any of these, don't forget to click the 'Save my edits' button at the bottom of the screen.

Change e-mail

​If you need to change your email address, this is the place to do it.

​Change password

Equally, if you want to change your password for any reason, you can do this here. 

Newsletter subscriptions

This tab will show you which HLF newsletters and eBulletins you are subscribed to. Use the tick boxes to change these and don't forget to click the 'Save' button if you make changes.


If you click on this, you'll be able to review and amend any subscriptions you have to community content, ie which discussions or forums you will receive automated email notifications to when they are updated or added to.
