Jim Cokill has been the Director of Durham Wildlife Trust since 2007.

Jim Cokill has been the Director of Durham Wildlife Trust since 2007 and has worked for the Trust since 2002 in a variety of roles, from project officer to conservation manager.

Durham Wildlife Trust is a membership organisation that operates across County Durham, Gateshead, South Tyneside, Sunderland and Darlington. It manages nature reserves and engages people in the natural heritage through conservation projects and education. Volunteering is an important part of all the Trust’s work.

Jim is a Board member of the Northern Upland Chain Nature Partnership and an independent member of the Northumbria Region Flood and Coastal Committee, focusing on nature conservation issues and the role the natural environment can play in managing flood risk.

Jim has a broad interest in the natural heritage of England's North. He was born and raised in West Yorkshire and studied marine biology at Newcastle University. He later returned to live in the North East to begin a career in nature conservation, initially as a volunteer with the National Trust.
