Role
Committee Member for England, Midlands & East
Heather has significant experience in museums and heritage and has been involved in numerous and diverse regional and national projects.

Heather began her career with Leicestershire Record Office and has expertise in local government and independent heritage services. These range from the natural and historic environment to museums, arts, archives, and libraries. In addition to securing a broad range of externally funded projects with community, economic and heritage partners, she oversaw the award-winning revitalisation of Bosworth Battlefield, including internationally significant archaeological fieldwork and conservation planning.

Heather has been a member of the Museum Association’s Ethics Committee, a Board member of Derby Museums Trust and of Bosworth 1485 Art Trail. She has been an independent parish councillor, a member of a local CIC and continues to undertake voluntary work in her community. She is a regular contributor to citizen science projects and online palaeography work.

Heather believes that heritage can make a real difference to people’s lives, and help communities connect with local places, landscape and nature. Heather is committed to supporting the work of the Heritage Fund in saving heritage, encouraging inclusion, access and participation, and protecting the environment. She is particularly keen to see how local economies can be strengthened through heritage’s contribution and how partnerships can be achieved to deliver projects with greater impact.
